Act of Random Kindness = A.R.K
What is Act of Random Kindness? (A.R.K)
Jesus told us that if we consider ourselves followers of his we need to be like him. There was a time Jesus
spoke to a group of people telling them what would happen when he returns and gathers his people. He will take a group and put them to his right and another to his left. One group will be welcomed in and the other will be told to depart from him. This is quite alarming but the reason he said this is due to people thinking they are followers of his, and yet they never do anything he commanded them to do.
Jesus said that we need to welcome and help those who need help. We need to go visit those who need
visitation, to clothe those who need clothing. It is interesting because their response was Lord, when did we see you naked or hungry, or in prison? And Jesus replied by saying that what you have not done to these people you have not done to me.
In the same way, he welcomed the people on the other side saying what you have done to these people, you
have done to me. (Matthew 25:31-46)
It seems like for us to follow Jesus, His desire is that we would imitate him and be like a little christ to those
who need to know him.
It was interesting to hear the young youth inside of Highway asking to do hands on experience, In fact one
said, "We want to do 'Act of Random Kindness' in our community." So, this is how Act of Random Kindness came about.
Act of Random Kindness is connected to Youth Zone. The goal is to have the youth that are connected to
Youth Zone participate in various activities that come under Act of Random Kindness. We are starting one in February. A.R.K. is on-going once it starts and this is a good way for the youth to participate. As we branch off and do other random projects we may break into small groups who help oversee doing certain parts of the A.R.K which means you are not forced to do every single ARK project but you can choose where you feel you fit.
As parents if you feel like you want to help in any of the A.R.K. Please feel free to let Pastor TJ know and
he will gladly connect with you. Scroll down and see what we will be doing starting in February 2018.
A.R.K Ministry Presence
Starting February 17th, 2018, Weekly Kids Dinner

Welcome to the Kids Dinner part of A.R.K Ministry. This is a hands-on ministry that
reaches out to kids in grade 1-5.
Sometimes we may have some kids under grade 1 but the reason why we go no higher than grade 5 is due to having volunteers that will be in grade 6 and up.
Highway Church is located in an area where there are a lot of low income families. Some of
the kids may not have a
full meal each day. Our church wants to be finding new ways to help our community. We found out that having such a program would be really helpful for families to make sure the kids have a good meal at least once a week.
Meghan Mark is the coordinator of this area as she feels deeply about seeing how feeding
one person can make a difference
in how we can connect.
We have decided that three times a month (the first three Saturdays of the month) we will
have kids come in and have a
balanced meal with meat, grain and vegetables. Thus, we have decided to do spaghetti with meat sauce, and sometimes change it up depending on what we can purchase.
During the meal, we will have some group games, Bible story and or skits, as well as Testimonies from our volunteers, Meghan, or myself.
The fourth week (Saturday) we will have the families come in and have a meal. We will
also invite others to come to pour
into the lives of these families that come. Meghan Mark will be doing some simple meal plans to teach the parents ways to stretch their money and the food to feed the kids and themselves. This would happen once a month. We are hoping to teach them but also have them take some of the meals home with them.
When do we run these dinner nights?
Saturdays from 5pm – 8pm
At Highway Pentecostal Church 1680 Saskatchewan Ave. W in the basement
Youth are more than welcome to come and serve and help connect with the kids. We do need
you to come 30 min early
to help setup and get instructions on what is happening that evening.
If you are involved with leading a skit or singing you will need to come 45 min. early to go
over the song/skit and get
information on how the night will go as well as joining in the prayer time.
If you love to cook, we need you!! As time goes on we will be feeding a lot of mouths which
means the more hands we
have to make the food and help clean up then the more we can accomplish.
If you would like to donate any food for these night please contact Pastor TJ. If you are planning to give a cheque make it out to Highway Pentecostal church and in memo write down Kid’s Dinner.
I hope to hear from you and hope to have you join this part of A.R.K Ministry.
How can I support?
If you would like to donate some pasta, or
tomato sauce, ground beef, Cheese, bread onions, peppers for the Saturday Dinners please feel free to drop them off at the Church and let Pastor TJ know.
If you want to serve on the Saturday whether
its connecting with the kids or preparing the food for the night please Contact Meghan or Pastor TJ.
If you want to write a cheque feel free to write the check out to Highway Pentecostal Church and write in the memo Kids Dinner or A.R.K Ministry
